Stay at home moms, or homemakers, catch criticism from some moms who toss their kids into daycare and head off to work each day. I know this because my wife is a homemaker, and a damn good one.

My wife gets frustrated when she hears the critical comments and the stupid questions like, “what do you do all day while your at home with the kids?” or “Why don’t you work?”

I won’t get into a long rant about how I feel about the ignorance, or more realistically, the jealousy people display towards my dear wife because she chooses to stay home with our kids. I will say that if more moms made the choice to be home with their kids instead of dropping them off at the local daycare to be raised by strangers, America just might have a chance of regaining it’s lost ambition for a better life for the future.

We both made the decision that when Lindsay became pregnant, she would stop her career endeavors and stay home to raise and nurture our children, and she did. I happen to make a decent enough income so that she can stay at home to raise our girls.

Some people think that stay at home moms are just lazy and do nothing but sit around watching trash tv and change diapers. That couldn’t be farther from the truth. My wife puts in more hours and works harder than any career mother ever could. My guess is that most career working moms couldn’t handle the daily house duties required of a stay at home mom. They simply have no clue.

My wife is doing what mothers should be doing, raising our own children and insuring that they will grow up and be responsible, productive, members of society. She is instilling our values into their little minds, not some part time teenagers values, or God forbid, the values of a Liberal.

Working moms make a choice typically based on money and material things. Some women are afraid to sacrifice their social lives because their children might interfere. What ever their reasons, working moms miss out on a lot.

Now before you start yelling at me I understand that every mom doesn’t have a spouse for various reasons. I’m talking about moms who made a choice, who are married and can otherwise afford to stay home with the kids. Not the moms who got knocked up, divorced or kicked the dead beat boy friend out of the house. I’m talking about moms who chose career over motherhood.

So to all those stay at home moms out there, don’t take any crap from those snobby career moms. You’re highly respected and appreciated and if not for you our country would be in deeper crap than it already is. -JRoycroft
