Even with the recent shootings in Newnan, this takes nothing away from it being one of the safest communities south of Atlanta. I have absolutely no second thoughts on our decision in moving to Coweta County.
The law enforcement community here does a fantastic job of taking care of business. I’ve Tweeted many times about how this is one county drug dealers and criminals should drive right passed. We have no tolerance for stupid individuals that decide to exit off of I-85 and make a drug deal in our county. It’s going to be a bad decision with a really bad ending.
The Newnan City Police, Fire and the Coweta County Sheriffs Depts are very efficient when it comes to response time. Coweta County is ranked among one the fastest responders in the metro area.
Would I recommend that you move to Newnan? Definitely yes. Can I feel safe allowing my two little girls playing outside? Yes! One of the questions my wife and I asked each other when choosing a location to live was, would we feel safe taking a walk in our neighborhood after dark? Yes we do.
Let there be no mistake about it, the culture of predatory violence is here in Newnan. Just do your research and find the right neighborhood to call home. Local black leaders are beginning to recognize that the recent acts of violence are indeed a cultural issue, although some are falling for the easy, politically correct excuse that guns are the cause.
Guns are just a tool used by these thugs. The same result would happen if it were a knife or baseball bat being used. You can thank the gangsta thug rap mentality for the preference of weapon and the desire to be a neighborhood tough guy.
What would make a young black punk, pants down past his ass, tats on his neck, throwing gang signs while rappin about bitches, hoes and killing think for a second that its a cool thing to do? What makes it ok for this type of activity to be allowed by responsible parents? My guess would be that the parents were raised the same way. It’s a generation thing.
When I worked in the projects of downtown Atlanta it became clear to me how normal this activity is. You become your environment.
Groups of people living in the same poor neighborhoods growing up, generation after generation with absolutely no parenting skills or solid responsible role models to look up to. The only thing these people looked up to was the politician that would promise them a bigger check each month. A check in exchange for a vote. An insurance policy that guaranteed they would never have to hold a responsible job or ever learn the meaning of work ethic. A politician that would pass the blame of every failure in their lives off on the guy who works and struggles for a living.
Reporter, Clay Neely, of the Newnan Times Herald reported today about community leaders who are speaking out about the recent shootings here.
In his article two things came out about how these leaders think.
Former Coweta County Commissioner Robert Wood thinks that taking away our right to bear arms is the answer.
